Unlike most vitamin C products, Quantum Vitamin C is a 100% natural botanical vitamin C formula -- with no synthetic ascorbic acid or calcium ascorbate added. In fact, chemically produced ascorbic acid is actually synthetic vitamin C that is usually derived from GMO corn. What’s the difference between “synthetic vitamin C’ and “natural vitamin C”? “Synthetic” nutrients are artificially made in a laboratory setting or industrial process, whereas “natural nutrients” are those found in whole botanical agents or whole food complexes.
If you are currently taking a vitamin C product, most likely it contains the chemical version of vitamin C (ascorbic acid) – as a fine, white powder – and does NOT contain the full spectrum of natural vitamin C from whole botanical sources along with a complete botanical matrix for best absorption. Unfortunately, most all the vitamin C supplements on the market that we have seen are made from ascorbic acid or calcium ascorbate.
A Fully Integrated Symphony
A vitamin is not an individual, isolated compound. Vitamins are an integral part of a complete matrix of components. Vitamins act as part of a beautifully integrated, multi-step biochemical process that is dependent upon many variables in order to perform their best. Superior vitamin activity can only take place if the full complex of its environment is present, including naturally occurring transporters and co-factors present in the entire vitamin matrix. You might say that vitamin activity is greater than the sum of just the vitamin itself. Vitamins cannot be chemically separated from their whole-nutrient matrix and still optimally perform their functions as if the complete matrix was still present. When artificially created vitamin C is isolated, this purified synthetic form appears to have drug-like effects in the body. We think it is inaccurate to call this synthesized version of vitamin C a true vitamin.
Why Do You Need Vitamin C?
It offers numerous benefits for immune health, antioxidant properties, and overall health and wellness support.* This key vitamin acts as an antioxidant that protects cells against unstable and damaging molecules called free radicals.* However, the quality of vitamin C that you choose to take might be more important than you think.
Vitamin C is needed for the growth and support of tissues throughout your body.* Vitamin C also acts as a free radical scavenger and antioxidant while providing important health factors. * Vitamin C supports the healthy biosynthesis of collagen, carnitine and neurotransmitter formation.* Vitamin C also helps the body absorb iron.
Is Taking Vitamin C as Ascorbic Acid a Problem?
Because ascorbic acid is typically synthetic vitamin C, usually derived from GMO corn, there is growing concern by researchers that those who consume high doses of ascorbic acid may have reason to worry. Some may think that if a LITTLE bit of something is good, then a LOT more is better. But research often demonstrates otherwise. For example, the daily recommended value for vitamin C is 65 to 90 milligrams (mg) a day. So is more of it better?
One research study (reported in Science, 2001) showed that consuming “synthetic vitamin C may contribute to the formation of genotoxins” that could ultimately lead to difficult health challenges. Another research study revealed a link between the consumption of 500 mg of vitamin C (daily) and a greater tendency toward thickening of the arteries. In the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition (2008), athletes taking 1,000 mg of vitamin C (daily) showed reduced endurance capacity from interference with antioxidant enzymes. However, one research study concluded that there were “transient and small comparative differences between synthetic and natural vitamin C, although these differences are likely to have minimal physiological impact,” (Nutrients, 2015), so you will need to examine the research and make up your own mind.
Quantum Vitamin C --- The Real Thing!
That’s why we recommend Quantum Vitamin C, a carefully crafted formula of natural botanical agents that provide “made in nature” vitamin C without any synthetic ascorbic acid or calcium ascorbate. Quantum Vitamin C uses amla fruit, one of the richest vitamin C sources in the natural world. Amla fruit also contains a broad spectrum of naturally occurring vitamins, minerals, unique phytonutrients, tannins, flavonoids, and polyphenolic compounds that work to elegantly support the immune system.*
The antioxidant and immune supporting properties of the amla fruit are boosted by the inherent bioflavonoid constituents which allow the vitamin C to be absorbed more gently and guards it from premature degeneration.* Supplementing a healthy diet with a robust, natural source of vitamin C can help you meet your daily requirements of this essential vitamin – and support your immune health at the same time.*
Quantum Vitamin C is created and diligently tested for optimal nutritional outcomes, including purity, strength, and nutrient content. In addition, this formula is manufactured without the use of undesirable excipients or flowing agents, such as magnesium stearate, which may have a negative impact on the immune system. Enjoy adding Quantum Vitamin C to your daily nutritional regimen! Go Quantum!
