Have Some Fun With Your Pineapple!

You already know that fruits and vegetables are packed with vitamins and nutrients to support your body, but did you know that pineapple may be one of the most beneficial?

This famous fruit is natively grown in South America, where early European explorers discovered it and named it after seeing its resemblance to a pinecone. Because they only grow in tropical climates and were thus hard to come by in Europe, pineapple was considered a significant icon of luxury in the 17th century, but as early as the 1820s became cultivated for commercial use in greenhouses. In recent years, Hawaii has become a dominant producer of pineapples followed by Costa Rica, Brazil, and the Philippines. Its popularity might be credited to the fact that pineapple is packed with powerful enzymes, including bromelain, that help support digestion and relieve inflammation.

Bromelain is a protein-digestive enzyme that is found in all parts of the pineapple part, including the fruit and fruit juice. This beneficial enzyme is also used as a digestive aid and can support muscle recovery after a tough workout. Bromelain is even used in some topical medications to help heal burns or can be used orally to reduce inflammation and swelling.

Here are some fun ways to spice up your afternoon snack and sneak in some healthy goodness:
