Hemp Extract FAQ: What is it? Will it get me high? What are its health benefits?

This product is not for use by or sale to persons under the age of 18.

This product contains less than 0.3% THC.

Hemp extract contains CBD, which stands for cannabidiol. This is a compound extracted from the hemp plant. It is one of more than 100 cannabinoids naturally found in hemp. A cannabinoid is a diverse chemical compound that can act on the body’s cannabinoid receptors, which are part of the endocannabinoid system found in cells that alter neurotransmitter release in the brain. Cannabinoids may promote health.

Will ingesting hemp extract get me high?

No. Tetrahydrocannabinol – or THC - is what causes the psychologic effects in marijuana. The THC in hemp is too low to “get high” by ingesting or smoking it. Hemp extract also contains CBD, which blocks the effectiveness of the THC chemical.

What is the difference between marijuana and hemp?

“Hemp” is a term used to classify varieties of the cannabis plant that contain 0.3% or less THC content.

“Marijuana” is a term used to classify varieties of cannabis that contain more than 0.3% THC. Ingesting or smoking marijuana can induce psychotropic or euphoric effects on the user.

Is it legal to buy hemp extract?

Yes. Buying hemp products (with THC <0.3%) is legal in most states. That includes products such as hemp extract, hemp seeds, hemp soap, and clothing made from hemp.
